Fatal Bush Accident

KILLED BY A FALLING TREE.

Paeroa, June 6. Lamentable accident, occurred at Smith and Hartleys' bush this afternoon, a man named W. Clark being killed by a falling tree. He was unable to escape from it in time and was pinned to the carte. Several mates immediately ran to his rescue and cut away the branches, with the result that when Clarke's body was liberated he was judged to be dead, his skull having beep completely smashed. Dr Forbes' services were requisitioned, but be could only pronounce life extinct.

An inquest is to be held. Deceased is believed to be a native of Wellington, where his parents reside. He was about thirty five years of age
