She laughed at my venture, I know it was poor, More musical still was the dip of the oar; As now as the past with its triumphs I scan, It looks up at me from my sweetheart's old fan. - As I open it wide, all alone in my room, There rises a breath of the richest perfume | It has clung to the fan, with its edging of ~-r lace, . , . Along with the dream of a maiden's sweet face.
