KUAOTUNU MINING NEWS.

(PftOM OtJlt OwNaltfQltttESPOSpl^T.) Mining at Kuaoffffu i| trancing rapidly, pegging £uj to a,njld/ applying for leases being the order of the day. At last English capitalists have turned their attention to the larger lode*rof' general ores. Mr Byles, on behalf of an Englißk company, h|fe arrangements for the pur|pi|^spips Try Fluke, and intends to commence operations o« a much larger scale. 1 h * Try Fluke has always been a steady gold producer, and we wish t|^^o^|pf. company every success. '0 *- 100 acres have been applied forsouth of the Kapai-Vermont by a representative of a powerful English company. i They are likewise negotiating for the purchase of the Irene mine and battery. If they can only get the Great Mercury to come to reasonable terms that mine will likewise go to British investors.

The Kapai-Vermont are getting very good gold going south, and is • lusing a good deal of attention to be directed to that place. The next place commanding attention is the Waitaia Range. Negotiations are now proceeding for large areas, namely, Waitaia mine, Aorere, Kuaotuuu, Maori Dream, Black Jack, Lucky Hit, Aorere No. 2, and the Prospecting Association. Mr Gheal has been sent down by the investors to locate the position of the different well-known reefs mentioned. He is preparing plans of the different claims .to be sent to the British market. *

The now famous mite Invicta has been floated, and I bear on very favourable terms. They have another good lot of specimens on hand to be treated.

The Phoenix on the south and the Ivaohoe oa the north of the Inviota should command a good deal of attention from investors. I would not be surprised to hear of either of the above companies striking it very heavy any day, as both the mines are on the line of reef.

The Ivanhoe being only 150 feet from the Invicta workings, the shareholders are putting the mine on the Auckland market, and I have no doubt from the position of the ground but that it will quickly be disposed of.
