REFLECTIONS ON SCHOOL CHILDREN.
LEWIS AJSD THE COMMITTEE,
(per press association.)
Gisborne, This day.
At the meeting of the school committee last night Mr Lewis attended. He absolutely refused to give any information as to the persons who had told him of the improper behaviour of the children as alleged by him in the letter to the Board of Education. The charges did not refer to the children now attending school nor had they reference to anything that took place in the school house. He had nothing to say against the Gisborne school or its teaching staff, but he objected t« sendino his children to any public school in the country. He denied having marie charges and had only written the statements of or her persons to him. It was all hearsay evidence as he had no actual knowledge of such things happening himself. A sub-committee was appointed to enquire into the school management and report to the committee next Wednesday.
