AUCKLAND.—This day. Hone Heke has been asked by the Tuhoe Datives to come up again. Sobbing the Exchequer.
The native meeting at Maungakawa is now over. It ended in rather a sensational manner by the exchequer being robbed of £178. p 'Kawhiti, editor of the Maoii paper, had that amount in gold, together with £50 in notes, in a Bi?cng box, which wag broken open on Friday night. The gold was extracted and the notes left.
DUNEDIN.—This day.
Owing to the rise ia wheat the price of the 4lb loaf has been raise j to s£d cash and 6d credit. The Catholic clergy met to-day to take the first Btep towards appointing a successor to the late Dr Moran. Sir P. Buckley visits 'he Hoa Mr McKenzie at his homo to-night. About 200,, ha'f of whom attended out of curiosity, assembled at the Labor Bureau this inoruitfg 1, where | they wefe addressed by Messrs Hutchison, Eavushaw, Mom'son, and the Mayor.
