OUR MINES.

ALBURNIA.

Shares in this mine show an advance on yesterday's quotations, sales being recorded at 4s 9d. The amount of picked stone obtained as the result of the breaking down yesterday afternoon was 151b*. The winze has no^r attained a depth of 13ft, the reef in the bottom averaging a^-out 2§ft ii thickness, and with gold visible in it in several places. Owin?, however, to the influx of water, which haa increased within the last day or two, Mr Dunlop found it necessary this morning to suspend operations in the winze, until such time as the water is drained away as the result of the work in progress at the 70ft level. The crosscut at this latter level has now been cleaned out and repaired for a distance of 65ft, and it is expected that about the middle of next week the break will be interspcted, after which a distance of some 80ft or 85ft of driving should cut the retf. SAXON. About half a dozen applications for tributes have been received by Mr Crawford, and were forwarded to Auckla- dby to-day's ma 1, so that they will probably be considered at the meeting of the directors to be held to-morrow. WAIOTAHI. This company's monthly cleaning up took place yesterday, and as a result Mr Smith lodged 2420zs lOdwts gold in the bank, for which 200 tons of quartz from all parts of the mine were treated. ORLANDO. The manager reports :—" Communication was effected on Thursday between the rise and shaft, the total distance being 76ft from the low level to the surface. The ri<e was put up 44ft and the reef broken down. It averaged from Sin to 12in wide ; the quartz contains a great deal of dark mineral,,colors of gold being also seen through the stone. The reef was met with in the shaft at a depth of 28ft from the surface, the quarta being also highly mineralised, and looked very promising. The reef here is very rubbly, which no doubt is owing to its close proximity to the surface. A large paddack capable of holding about 35 loads of quartz was excavated at the side of the Moanatairi tramway and floor level, and the tramway extended from the mouth of the tunoel across the creek to it. The above work was completed on Saturday, and a, leading stope east and west of the rise was started this morning." —C. D. Waite."
