An Experience Meeting.
It is well known to general readeri that experience meetings among oar transatlantic friends are sometimes the scene of no small excitement. Sobermindedness is not an element io them, and the feelings are allowed to ruo away with the judgment. The following ia told by Dr Talmsge in reference to one-re- - cently held in Kentucky, where "tall t»!k " whs evidrntiy in the ascrndant. A. man rose up and saM: '"I'm a ship stramine right abeed for glory. I can tell yo. I'm going along at a" spanking pace, aud soon expect to enter tie blessed ha^en of eternal felicity.' - .Aaqthw man, whose j alousy seems tobare been excited by fhia v?ry bighFounding profession, immediately rose, and said : 'Yes, friends, Hire cur brother who has jaM sat"down I alpb am a ship in full «nil flfeami' g straight aod fast for the be«»en!y shore. I'm grirg along at the rate of forty knots an r hour, and soon • hull hail the mountain" tops of Im« manuel's land. Glory! glory !' An aged sister who was present, and whose experience of Christian life extended over many years, rose and Faid: "Well, you're gettin' 'long mighty fast. I have been egoin' to heaven for seventy years, and I've had to walk all the way, and hare often stumbled and fallen, bat have got np again ; and if I ever get there at all I expect I'll just; have (o walk all the rest of the way. , As to you men who are goin' so fas tall I've got to aay to you is, that if yon get to goin' much faster vnn'U bust yer biWs and neTer get there •tall.' r. Talmaee naively adds : " There ere a good many folks whose bilers hare busted all along.'
