Mr Yates was elected Mayor of (Jn«huoga by '50 votes against 119 recorded for Mr C. C. Fleming.

The election of Mayor took place today. There was every expectation of Mr Laird's winning, but when the ballot was declared it was found that Mr Parsons had headed the poll with eleven to the good. Laird 195, Parsons 206. There was great excitement at the result. Mr Parsons fainted from over excitement.

Wellington, Last night. Mr Heginbotham was elected Mayor of Melrose.

Mr Kennall was elected Mayor of Master ton.
