Auckland, This day.

At the Auckland Kegatta meeting last night the Mayor, who presided, said that he trusted that the Kegatta next year would be a good one, and a worthy forerunner of the great Aquatic Carnival on the Jabilee ot the colony in 1890. It is proposed to hold a series of musical festivals and band contests on Jubilee Day, and a big Eegatta would run well witb these ; and such a one should be organised that would be superior to any ever held in any of (he Australian colonies. The meeting elected the following officers: — Patron, Mayor of Auckland; Vice Patrons, Messrs M. Nicoli (Chairman of the Harbor Board), and E. Mitchelson, M.H.E.; President, Captain Colbeck (Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce); Vice Presidents, Mt-Bsrs J. Marshall and C. P. Featherstone; Secretary, Mr C. C Daore ; Treasurer, Mr J. W aymouth. A prize of £50 was offered by Mr John Marshall for a first class trading cutter race, or other race approved of by the Committee. An influential Committee was appointed to carry ouf the views of the meeting, and much enthusiasm was dis* played.
