Mr George William Owen, merchant, of Lower Queen street, has filec his petition to be adjudicated a bankrupt. The 8.8 Hawea is to leave Manukau with the Auckland members lor Wellington on Tuesday morning next, and will reach Wellington on Thursday morning; A newly elected member of one of the country seats has offered to retire in favor of the Hon. Mr Tole, but the offer has been declined. This day. Miss Lodder, daughter of Mr Win. Lodder, was married yesterday afternoon to Mr Pollock, a gentleman residing in Australia. The ceremony took place at the Church of St. Marks, Eemuera, the service being a full choral. The Auckland Grocers' and Dairymen's Association quotes the wholesale price of fresh butter at lOd per lb, and fresh eggs 6d per dozen, for Ihe week ending October sth.
The question of sending a representatire team of cricketers on a Southern tour this year is being discussed. It is pro* bable the matter will be successfully carried out.
