Sir George Bo wen having quite recently resigned the governorship of Hong E.ong, and retired upon a stiff pension on tho ground of ill-health, it is somewhat surprising to learn that he contemplates forth* with entering English political life and the House of Commons. • The funeral of M. Katkcff, the Moscow editor, on March Bth, was attended by three thousand carriages in line. The, remain* were conveyed to Moscow from : Zuamensky, where KatkofF died, a distance of 20 miles, and.the coffin was borne the whole distance alternately upon the shoulders of the relatives of the dead editor, workmen, students from the UniYerßity, members of the press, and peas* antry. General Tehernaicff has taken Sjatkoff's place as editor of the Moscow Gazette.
