AUCKLAND.—This day.
Two More Fires- ■ Last night a nine roomed bouse in Eng. land street, Ponsonby, owned and occupied by Mrs Potts, a widow, was destroyed by fire, which originated in the kitchen. The house was insured for £200, and the furniture for £100, both in the South British. A fire in Wellington street this morning destroyed a shop occupied by McNamara, grocer, and two cottages occupied by Josiah Mallet and Wm. l?obertson. They all belonged to Jas. Lycll. The. fire originated in the shop. There were insurances on the building for £325 in the South British, and on the stock and furnitnre £300 in the Koyal The young woman Mary O'Connell admits being the mother of the child whose dead body, was found on Monday. The child yn&s born on Siturday night, and the mother performed her duties as usual on Sunday, and went twice to church.
