OUR MINES.

CA.MBRU. The fortnightly cleaning up and retorting for this company took place today for the return of 2040zs 30dwts gold, which waa reduced on melting to 200ozs gold. For this yield a total of 164 loads quartz have been crushed for 1240zs lOdwts gold, while the remaining BOozs wero obtained from 69lbs specimens. There is no change to report from tbo mine. SAXON. The manager reports :—"ITo. 4 level has been extended 16ft since my last report ; the reef is about 2ft in thickness, shows colors of gold, carries excellent mineral, and is is better country for progress, and still very favorable for gold, but a large flinty has now made its appearance iu the face, striking into the reef, which will likely retard progress until we ara through. The rise is up 48ft, the reef being 2:t thick, and 2Olbs picked slone were obtained to-day. In the atopes very little has been done in Qoaaequence of

tringers going off into the footwall, all. of which have to be shot down and .picked over. At No. 3 level the haogingwall portion of the reef has been extended 10ft; it is about 9in. thick, looks very well, and produced 451bs picked stone yesterday; it is in good country. The stopes and rise over this level are turning out good crush* ing dirt, in which gold is seen when breaking down, the reef being from 2ft to 2ft 6in wide,, and country good. The winze from No. 3 has been full of gas all the week, so that no work could be carried on here. At the concentrator about Bor 9 tons of pyrites arc on hand, and aa there is not much spare space in the building, I atvait your instructions as to what is to be done with them. In the meantime I shall put 3cwt through the berdans in each battery. The amalgam on band is 8590zs 18dwts, all squeezed to date.—F. Jambs."
