A number of windows were smashed. Wellington, Last night. The election passed off quietly at Te Aro, where the excitement was greater than in other electorates. Flour and egga were indulged in to a large extent. The elections created a good deal of excitement, and in response to a request of the Mayor, many of the business houses closed for a half-holiday. The weather was fine until three this afternoon, when steady rain set in. A good deal of good« natured chaff was indulged in, but no rowdyism. This day. Sir R. Stout's Movements. Sir E. Stout is expected here on Friday, and the Government will not take any action on the political crisis till then. Though no longer Premier, Sir R. Stout retains his seat in the Executive Council, and his power of advising in that capacity. Sudden Death at the Foil. About a quarter past 12 to-day, Mr Devereax, an old settler at the Hutt, died suddenly, after registering his vote. The deceased had been ailing for some time, and was aged 65. Nelson, This day.
