, Laafc night. The Nelipn Colonist questions the statement made by Mr Macandrew regarding the railway expenditure in ■XT 1 •ft Nelson.
The city of Nelson nomination is fixed for vthe first of September^-'the polling "on the ,6th September; suburbs on the 2nd, polling"on the Bth ; Waimea on the sth, and polling on the 12th ; Motueka on the 3rd, and polling on the 10th ; Collingwood on the 3rd, and. polling on the 11th. ■ It is probable J. Shepherd, editor of the Colonist, will have, a walk over for Waimea, Mr Pitt having now.consented to stand for the city. The other candidates are; Curtis and Adams.: A, working men's candidate will probably stand. There is a good deal of excitement for the suburbs * where Wistney will stand in* addition fo Richmond.and Stafford.
For Collingwood, Armstrong of Dunedin has proceeded to stump; the -district against Gibbs, Cave,,and Edelstone. Motueka is quiet; yet, but a sever* contest is looked for.
