Last night. Wellington Election News. The date of nomination of candidates for representation of the City has been fixed for the Ist September, and the polling will take'place on the sth September. Nominations for the Wellington country districts takes place on the 3rd September, and the polling on 9th. At a meeting of creditors of J. N. Owen, landlord of the Melbourne Hotel, liabilities were set down at £2640, and the assets at £2690.

The brigahtine Ned White arrived from New York this, afternoon. She has made a long passage of 132 days, caused by the very bad trim in which she was sent away. When off fhe Cape she encountered sprue very severe gales, but no damage was done. She has a large cargo of Yankee notions, a portion of which is for Auckland. .".'.','.
The ship Halcione from London arrived to-day after a passage of 93 days. She has a large general cargo and full compliment of passengers. ; „

The Liberal Association to-night took a ballot as to the candidate to be supported in the place of Fisher. The result was: Levin 63, Henry Anderson 26, Greenfield 22. Plumpers for Hutchinson, who is the only other Liberal candidate, 17.
