Last night.
. Porter, Johnston, and Morris have had meetings. Porter, the independent candidate, would be guided by his constituents as to whom he should support. Johnston would Bupport' Grey. Captain Morris attacked the Native Department! and said when they took office the expenditure was .£32,000, end cow , it war £'55,000. He took : credit for liavirig obtained £26,00Q } d^iring his time for Gisborne, while Tauranga did not get a silver sixpence. He would: not support Grey under any circumstances, and said he was sure his party would be in a majority in the new Parliament, and promised they would make the Ormond railway. A rote of thanks was accorded by the meeting. Borne Gisborne people favor Gapt Morris, and he says that a bill for a redistribution of seats will be brought in the session after next, when there will be another dissolution, and assures us that Poverty Bay will have a representative of its own.
