A new evening paper called the Star, appears in the interest of the Government party. The idea was first mooted on Thursday, and on Friday a contract was; concluded with the, Herald proprietors for; the printing, and on Saturday it was first abriounced; . " '-■' ,"-, ".•'■'"'■ ILI ■
A large swordfish was picked up "on the beach near Waimu a few days ago. It is said to be the first description of this kind of fish found on, the coast of this neighbourhood. The swordflsh measured fourteen feet from' tip to tail, the sword being fully four feet long. A snapper about three feet long was found inside, and it is surmised .that the traveller of the deep came to grief by taking more than could bei readily digested.
