This day. In the Supreme Court to-day Fidgett, who was convicted of burning stacks, was brought up for sentence. The Judge in passing sentence said that prisoner's whole conduct indicated that he feared neither God nor man. He was sentenced to ten years' penal servitude.

It is said that Government intend to prosecute .Robert Graham under the Native Lands Act for occupying land at Eotorua. Messrs Hesketh and Whitaker are retained for, the defence. The Kaitangata Committee held a meeting to day. The funds amount to £1050 clear of all expenses. The committee passed a resolution concurring in the plan proposed by the Dunedin committee, and expressing reliance on their care in expending the money, which will be forwarded immediately.
