Annual Inspections.

THE CADETS.

There was a fair muster of the Thames Scottish and St. George's Naval Cadet companies at the Volunteer Hall, Shortland, last evening, on the occasion of the annual inspection by Colonel Lyon. The companies, having been put through some company movements by Sergeant-Major Grant, were minutely inspected by Colonel Lyon, who praised the lads for the cleanliness of their weapons. The officers then put their respective companies through a variety of movements, which were executed in a highly creditable man* ner. Before leaving, the Inspecting Officer promised to recommend to Government the issue of a better class of carbines to both companies. Major Murray was present, and also Mrs Lyon and Mrs Murray.
