NEW CLAIM, (WAIOTAHI).

Yesterday morning Mr J. Coutts, Waiotahi Creek, was working in his garden,'and while so engaged found a stone which on examination he found to be a piece of quartz containing gold—in fact, a fair specimen. In consequence of this discovery Mr Coutts, Mr G. Syming* ton and others have pegged off 10 men a ground near the Waiotahi Creek School, and intend prospecting for the lode which the quartz is supposed to have come from. I may state that the probability of the discovery of a quarts lode in this vicinity was predicted by a com* petent mining authority some time ago. •
