“PEACE” FORCE
American Marines WASHINGTON. Sept. 28. Plans to use American marines as “minute men” in an international organisation to maintain peace have been disclosed by the Marine Commandant (General A. A. Vandegrift) testifying before the House Naval Affairs Committee. Urging a post-war marines force of 100.000 men with 9200 officers. General Vandegrift said that in the .event of the present efforts towards inter-
national organisation to prevent war being not successful the scope of the marines force would be expanded. The force of “minute men” would be held in readiness and be moved instantly with the Fleet to any part of the world to strike hard and promptly to forestall at its beginning any attempt to disrupt world peace.
