SHOWERY The following is the forecast for South Canterbury issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, tor the period ending 5 p.m. to-day:— General Situation There is a complex depression over New Zealand. Forecast Winds.—Fresh, but gradually decreasing southerly winds. Weather.—Cloudy and cold with occasional showers, but gradually improving. Further Outlook.—Mainly fair. Following are the records taken at Timaru Park for the 24 hours ended at--9 a.m. yesterday with the exception of the maximum temperature and sunshine for the day, which were taken at 7 p.m.;— Max. temperature in shade: 48.2. Min. temperature on grass: 45.2. Frost: Nil. Wind: 5.E.3. Rainfall: 1.26 inches. Rainfall to date this year: 27.93in5. Rainfall to date last year: 18.46in5. Sunshine: Nil. Sunshine to date this year: 1318.7 hrs Sunshine to date last year: 1235 hrs IN OTHER CENTRES . Temuka.— Yesterday was wet with a cold southerly wind. The maximum temperature was 63 degrees and the minimum 47 degrees. For the 24 hours ended at 4 p.m. yesterday 1.34 inches of rain were recorded. The glass was rising last evening.
