Wellington tor the period ending 5 p.m. to-day:— General Situation An intense anti-cvclonc lies east of New Zealand and a depression in the Central Tasman Sea. Forecast Winds.—Fresh northerly or northeasterly winds. Weather.—Fair to cloudy and mild. TIMARU RECORDS Sun rises at Timaru to-day 7.13 a.m ; sets 6 p.m. High water at Timaru to-day 6.20 a.m; 6.45 p.m. PHASES OF THE MOON Last Quarter .. Aug. 30 at 3.40 p.m New Moon.. .. Sept. 7 at 1.49 a.m First Quarter .. Sept. 15 at 5.08 p.m Full Moon .. .. Sept. 22 at 8.16 a.m. FINE WEEK-END Although overcast at times, the week-end was mostly bright and sunny. Following are the records taken at Timaru Park for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. on Saturday with the exception of the. maximum temperature and sunshine for the day, which were taken at 7 p.m.:— Max. temperature in shade: 53.8. Min. temperautre on grass: 22. Frost: 10 degrees. Wind: Nil. Rain: Nil. Sunshine: 6.4 hours. Following are the records taken at Timaru Park for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday with the exception of the maximum temperature and sunshine for the day, which were taken at 7 p.m.:— Max. temperature in shade: 63. Min. temperature on grass: 32. Frost: Nil. Wind: N.E.I. Rainfall: Nil. Rainfall to date this year: 25.6in5. Rainfall to date last year: 17.09in5. Sunshine: 0.4 hour.
