Staff changes were approved as follows by the Canterbury Education Board yesterday:—Appointments: Temuka District High School. Miss C. M. Heenan; resignations: Fairlie District High School, Miss F. M. Morland; Timaru West School, Miss K. W. Hewson.—Christchurch correspondent. Although it was more than five weeks since the Waimate Borough Council and the Waimate County Council notified the Marine Department of their appointment of Major N. A. Rattray, a returned soldier of the present war, to fill the vacancy on the Timaru Harbour Board created by the death of Mr H. Max Whatman, so far no notification had been received that the appointment had been confirmed, said the chairman 'Mr R. S. Goodman) at a meeting of the Harbour Board yesterday. Mr Whatman represented the Borough of Waimate and the Makikihi, Deep Creek and part of the Waihao Ridings of the Waimate County. Miss D. E. Dolton, M.A., Dip. Soc. Sc., will arrive in Timaru on Monday to give the first of a series of four lectures on “Understanding Small Children.” Miss Dolton studied child psychology under Dr. Susan Isaacs in England, and also spent some time in California before coming to New Zealand. Her lecture course in Timaru is beingsponsored by the Timaru branch of the Workers’ Educational Association.
