SHORTAGE OF GAS
Plight Of Wellington (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 14. The Wellington Gas Company is without coal and consumers have been asked to assist by not using gas for industrial purposes, gas fires, or water heaters and only the minimum for cooking. This is necessary to prevent a complete shutdown of the supply of gas. Restaurants and hotels have great difficulty in cooking meals. Some hotels started cooking the evening meals this morning.
