SUPPLY OF GAS
Position At Auckland Deteriorates (N.Z.P.A.) AUCKLAND, Sept. 14 The position at the Auckland Gas Works deteriorated considerably to-day and the possibility of a cessation of the supply after the week-end is stronger than it was when the restrictions were imposed on Wednesday night. No advice that coal would be made available before Saturday to supplement the dwindling stocks had been received up to to-night, and advice was received that the coal boats were still bar-bound on the West Coast. If a coal boat cleared the bar to-morrow, it would not arrive before Monday night.
