CUSTOMS UNION
Belgium And Luxembourg (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) LONDON. Sept. 5. Belgium and Luxembourg, between whom an economic union has existed since 1921, have concluded a customs union with the Netherlands, elated to-day. Temporary in character, it is intended to facilitate the re-establish-ment of economic activities and the creation of conditions favourable to eventual realisation of permanent and complete customs union. The Belgian Ministry of Economy issued an order under which ail imports and exports are subject to licence.
The Belgian-Luxembourg-Nether-lands customs union also provides for the establishment of an administrative customs commission, and similar commissions to co-ordinate foreign trade and trade agreements with other powers.
