DEATH OF GERMAN GENERAL

Man Who Heard Hitler Give Order

(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 6. The Allies have just taken prisoner a German who says he actually heard Hitler order the execution of Field-Marshal von Reichenau, former commander of the German Southern Army Group, says the correspondent of the “Daily Mail” at the Italian front. The prisoner was a telephone operator attached to Hitler's • headquarters. He overheard Hitler at the end of September, 1941, telephoning from the Brown House in Munich to General Hasenloder. Hitler said coldly: “I do not want to find that man, Reichenau, in the land of the living inside six hours from now.” Three days later it was announced that von Reichenau had died as the result of a heart attack.
