BOWLING TIMARU CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING There was a good attendance of members at the fifty-seventh annual meeting of the Timaru Bowling Club last night. Mr W. D. Olney, who presided. welcomed members, and referred to the deaths of nine members, to whose memory tribute was paid in silence.

Moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the president said that the season had been a most successful one. the financial position having improved considerably. This had been due to the untiring efforts of members, and he hoped it would not be long before the club was free of debt. The report and balance-sheet were adopted.

The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr T. F. Bussell; past-president, Mr W. D. Olney; vicepresidents, Messrs J. A. Norrie and R. H. Morgan; hon. secretary, Mr H. J. Washer; hon. treasurer, Mr A. Oborn; committee, Messrs F. Franklin, L. Edyvean, H. D. Bannerman, R. Fenton, R. N. Downes, R. B. Hart and R. D. Miller; green supervisor, Mr L. Edyvean; auditor, Mr W. J. Cotterill; sinking fund committee, Messrs H. J. Washer, J. S. Lee, C. H. Manning. E. G. Queree, T. F. Bussell and R. N. Downes; delegates to South Canterbury Centre, Messrs L. Edyvean and W. D. Olney; selector. Mr J- S. Lee; match committee. Messrs J. S. Lee, L. Edyvean and R. D. Miller. It was decided to enter for the Bristol Cup and Centre competitions, if any. After discussion, a notice of motion to delete a local rule giving the executive full control over club competitions and to give the Match Committee full control, with right of appeal to the executive, was defeated, it being decided to revert to the old rule providing for the Match Committee having control of competitions unless where specially arranged otherwise. It was agreed to conduct the same club competitions as last year, the champion fours and the Evans Pairs to be self-selected. It was recommended that the executive adopt the Bagnall-Wild system of conducting competitions. HIGHFIELD CLUB There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Highfield Bowling Club. Mr W. J. Foote, who presided, reviewed the report and balance sheet which, after discussion, were unanimously adopted. Three new members were elected. The opening day for the season was tentatively arranged for the second Saturday in October. The following officers were elected:— President, Mi' W. J. Foote; senior vice-president, Mr G. P. Prichard; junior vice-president, Mr J. W. Dow; non. secretary, Mr L. B. Pearson: hon. treasurer, Mr W. Harding; executive committee, Messrs R. Wilson. W. Saunders, L. C. Collett, A. H. Moore, D. Barbour. S. Cunningham and R. Brodie; centre delegate, Mr L. B. Pearson; grpen supervisor, Mr R. Wilson: sole selector, D. Barbour; coaches, Messrs R. Wilson. D. Barbour; hon. auditor, Mr J. Macaulay; match committee. Messrs L. B. Pearson. G. P. Prichard, A. H. Moore and J. W. Dow.
