VALUES MAINTAINED (N.Z.P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 25. The Addington sale was held in wintry weather, but the entries all round were up to recent numbers. Prices for fat cattle and sheep were well maintained, but the demand for store sheep, because of feed conditions, was very slack. There was a small entrv of porkers but a big yarding of baconers, which showed a slight easing. The store sheep entry was 2200, against 2522 last week, comprising 1060 ewes in lamb, 541 ewes and lambs, 424 hoggets and 176 wethers. Owing to the boisterous weather very few buyers were present and the sale was a dragging one, many pens being passed, especially ewes and lambs. The best pen of 'ewes in lamb to Southdown rams made 29 6. and another line made 25 6 The ewes and lambs were of good quality but there was little competition for them, mainly owing to the feed shortage. The best line brought 16/6 all counted, and others made from 13/8 to 15 9, Wethers sold from 23/6 to 26/7. One line of 225 ewe hoggets made 24 10. The fat sheep entry was 4000, mostly of prime quality. The demand was keen from the outset, and although prices showed a slight easing toward the dose, the market was firm throughout at. well uu to recent values. The highest price for wethers was 53 1 for some heavy sheep. There was a strong demand for two-looth wethers and very few of these sold at under 40 The best price was 48 7, a line of 58 averaging 47 ■ . Only four choppers were forward, the top price being £lO/16/The yarding in the bacon section was the heaviest for several months, and with only a few good quality pigs the market all round was easier by from 3/- to 5/- a head. RABBITSKIN SALE HIGHER PRICES IN SOME SECTIONS At the Dunedin rabbitskin sale on Tuesday, 78 tons were offered to the usual bench of buyers. There was a strong demand for all grades and values as compared with the rates at the previous sale can be quoted firmer as follows: Best grades of winters, 9d to 15d per lb; outgoing and springs, par to 7d; other grades were generally very firm.
