National Savings Mr G. Bcrney, chairman of the National Savings Committee, advises that for last week the local quota failed to fill. He had hopes that this week’s quota would be forthcoming. Weather For several days a light nor'-west wind and milder temperatures have had a good drying effect, and land was coming into a workable condition. A change to southerly weather on Tuesday brought up fain, which was followed'by snow. This was unwelcome after the many falls and cold weather experienced the last two months. More snow in the back country will be particularly unwelcome, as it was more or less covered to a fair depth from previous falls. Runholders have been having a trying time, and severe losses of sheep in some parts are anticipated.
