VICE-REGAL (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON. Mar. 19. The Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, received the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser at Wellington to-day. Mr Lee Quirk, of Christchurch, lias been appointed to take charge of the radio department of Chas. Begg and Company. Ltd., Timaru. The appointment of Mr Alfred Clarke Turnbull as Administrator of Western Samoa as from February 19, 1943, is gazetted, also that of Mr Parker T. Hart as Vice-Consul of the United States at Wellington. The National Bank of New Zealand has received advice from Melbourne that Sir James A. M, Elder has resigned the chairmanship of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Australia, a position he held continuously for nearly 11 years. The Board accepted the resignation with regret, out Sir James will retain a seat on the Board. Mr Harry Douglas Giddy has been elected chairman in his stead. —Press Association.
