FAIR (Special) WELLINGTON. July 15. Winds —South-westerly winds, moderate inland, but strong at times on the coast. Weather—lsolated showers, especially near Banks Peninsula, but the weather mainly fine; temperatures remaining cold. Aug. 12 at 2.28 p.m. COLD CONDITIONS Although conditions were fine yesterday, the wind was cold, due to the presence of snow in the back-country brought down by a stoutherly storm in the early hours of the morning. Conditions at night were unpleasant. Records prior to 9 a.m. yesterday were:— Max. temperature in shade: 47.2. Min. temperature on grass: 29.2. Frost: 2.8 degrees. Wind: W.3. Rainfall: .15 ins. Rainfall to date this year: 9.3oins. Sunshine: 6.9 hours. Sunshine to date this year: 1079.9hr5. IN OTHER CENTRES Temuka: Yesterday was cold with a south-west wind. Thirty points of rain fell overnight. The maximum temperature was 44 degrees and the minimum 28. The glass was rising slowly. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday): Barometer. 29.4, thermometer, maximum, 52, minimum 37; frost, 4 degrees; rain, 17 points; bright sunshine, 6 hours 6 minutes; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 94. Yesterday was overcast with a strong southerly wind blowing.
