GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL

CONCERT BY PUPILS Following what seems to have become the custom during the past few years, pupils of the Timaru Girls’ High School gave a concert for their own entertainment on June 5, each form contributing at least one item. The programme comprised songs, recitations, tap-dancing, a skipping dance, pianoforte solos and a sketch entitled “The Spirit of Peace.” The final item was a humorous sketch by the Sixth Form—an imaginary version of the ceremony of the opening of the new Assembly Hall, for which the school is raising funds. At the conclusion of this item, the proceeds of the concert, £4/14/9, were handed to the head mistress (Miss L. A. Hurley) in a money-box made as a miniature Assembly Hall.
