Smuggled From Warsaw

NEW YORK, Sept 6. Gold worth £23,437,500 yjjas smuggled from Poland just before the fall of Warsaw, according to M. Ignace Matuszewski, a former member of the Polish Cabinet, who has arrived in New York from Lisbon.

He and another Minister loaded 75 tons of gold on 15 lorries, on which they put dozens of women and children. The refugees diverted suspicion and they reached Rumania, where the gold was shipped to Turkey, thence to Syria and the Polish Government’s seat at Angers.
