Thrills Of A Freedom Radio Broadcaster
There are few modern adventures more thrilling than the conducting of propaganda against a State from within its borders. That is the basis of the plot of “Freedom Radio,” which no doubt was inspired by the reports of a station on the Continent which attacked the Nazi regime. The film will be shown in Wellington shortly. The central character, a role taken by Clive Brooke, is a distinguished German medical man who sees all his friends either joining the Nazis or thrown into prison. Even his wife becomes a Government official, and after a quarrel with him leaves him. Carried on by his mounting Indignation, he helps a young radio engineer, whose girl is a victim of the Gestapo, to build a portable radio transmitter. With it they broadcast the truth to their countrymen regularly every night in spite of the angry searchings by the Nazis with elaborate equipment. It is an exciting and timely film.
