Laurel And Hardy Get Long Contract
Laurel and Hardy, who have been off the screen for several months, have signed a five-year contract with Twentieth Century-Fox. The comedians have lately been in Mexico City, where they were often referred to as Senor Fat and Senor Thin, and, a correspondent says, the popularity they enjoyed made Hollywood realise more fully what these comics mean to movie-goers in various parts of the world. The Mexican Foreign Minister, Ezlquiel Padilla, in greeting the stars, said: "The wit of such artists as Laurel and Hardy, Joe E. Brown and Mischa Auer has brought smiles to faces frowning under the weight of care and worry of life itself.”
