After having discussions with Miss Jean Campbell, the National Youth Secretary, and hearing of the activities of other Business Girls’ Clubs throughout New Zealand, the Business Girls’ Lyceum decided that the next four meetings should be devoted to a course of lectures and discussions based on the development of personality in relation to the girls themselves, to their families and friends, and to the as a whole.

One of the most enthusiastic groups connected with the Women’s War Service Auxiliary is the signalling Corps. Members are at present undergoing training in semaphore signalling every Thursday night under Mrs Walsh, a qualified signaller, and through the courtesy of the Chief Postmaster facilities for morse training are i lade available every Tuesday night. The keenness of the girls is apparent from the fact that with six nights’ training the majority of the trainees have attained a speed of six words a minute.

Sister E. J. Harris, who was formerly in charge of the orthopaedic department of the King George V Hospital in Rotorua, died in Thames last week after a long illness. Sister Harris trained at the New Plymouth Hospital and went overseas with the first draft of nurses in the Great War. She served in Egypt and was stationed at Brockenhurst Hospital, England. After the Armistice she was transferred to the New Zealand Health Department in London, where she received specialist training as a masseuse, and on her return to New Zealand took up her post in Rotorua. The second New Zealand woman pilot to become actively engaged in the Royal Air Force Air Auxiliary is Miss Trevor Hunter, Wanganui, who will leave New Zealand shortly to take up her new post. Miss Hunter offered her services to the Air Transport Auxiliary 15 months ago, but only recently received advice that she would be posted as a pilot if she passed a physical examination and flight test in England. Arrangements have been made for her to go to England to undergo the tests. She was the first Wanganui girl to finish aerodrome training with the Wanganui Aero Club.
