BOOKMAKER BEFORE COURT (P.A.) DUNEDIN, August 15. A fine of £3O was Imposed this morning on James Patrick Gorman for carrying on business as a bookmaker. Detective-Sergeant Hall said that he understood that Gorman was a member of an unlawful association. The Magistrate (Mr H. W. Buddle): I presume you refer to some bookmakers’ association. Mr Hall: They call it the National
Sportsmen’s Association, or some such thing.
