TEMUKA ZONE QUOTA IS EXCEEDED

Patriotic Fund Appeal

Intense Canvass Necessary

That the zone quota of the Million Pound Appeal, had been exceeded by a margin of £149/2/4, was reported at a meeting of the Temuka and Geraldine Patriotic Committee in Temuka on Thursday evening. The Geraldine inter-zone quota has been exceeded by £316/15/9, and the Temuka inter-zone has yet to find £165, before its quota is complete. To date the Temuka R.S.A. appeal has netted £324/9/3. Notwithstanding the scarcity of suitable wool the zone had received 2001 b, and of this amount 50 had been allocated to Temuka.

The delegate to the Provincial Council, Mr D. C. McKechnle, reported in detail the business transacted at the last meeting and said that the matter of making the next appeal to the public had been deferred until the November conference.

A lengthy discussion revealed that in reaching the quota of the Million Pound Appeal the district had to be canvassed two or three times. It was agreed to send a recommendation to the next conference advocating a lesser amount so that only one appeal would be necessary.
