FOOT COMPLAINTS

NO BAR TO ENLISTMENT IN AIR FORCE <P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 19. The Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) in a statement to-day announced that the Royal New Zealand Air Force is prepared to accept for enlistment as pilots, observers or gunners men who have minor afflictions of the feet—flat feet or similar complaints. This refers only to those men who are within aircrew age and have the requisite educational qualifications. Many of those who offered their services to the Army and have been rejected for various types of foot trouble consider they are unsuitable for any branch of the services, but if these men are otherwise physically fit they will be considered for selection for aircrew training. Men under 31 are eligible as pilots, while observers and air-gunners must be under 33.
