BURNSIDE SALE
MARKET REMAINS STEADY (P.A.) DUNEDIN, June 18. There was a large varying of fat cattle at Burnside to-day comprising 450 head. The quality was the best seen for some weeks. The sale opened at a shade under last week’s opening rates and was fairly steady throughout. Towards the finish prices were 15/under last week’s ruling rates. Extra prime steers made £l4/10/0 to £lB/0/0, prime cows and heifers to £l2 and light from £6/0/0. Vealers made £5/15/0 to £7/10/0. There was a yarding of 2067 fat sheep made up principally of ewes. The market was firm on last week’s rates. Prime wethers made 26/- to 33/-, light 17/- to 21/-, best ewes to 21/6, prime 16/- to 18/-, medium and light 12/6 to 15/9. The number of fat lambs penned totalled 1298. Prices ranged from 13/6 to 35/—. About 200 fat pigs were offered against 450 last week, a large percentage being porkers. The sale for baconers was firm at late rates,, while porkers showed a decline of 5/- to 6/a head. Best baconers £4/10/0 to £4/19/0, best porkers to £3/12/0 and medium from £2/10/0 to £3/2/0.
