NEXT SEASON’S FARM PRODUCE

Statement As To Prices (P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 20. A plea to the Government to make a decision in reference to the export of perishable produce this year was made by Mr W. W. Mulholland, Dominion president, at the Auckland Farmers’ Union Conference. “The most important point,” he said, “is what is the policy of the Government regarding payment for produce next year. That decision should be made now.” It should be realised, said Mr Mulholland, that it was impossible to maintain productive capacity unless the income of the farmers was sufficient, hence production depended on the financial policy. In such a crisis prompt decisions would never be made by a party government which needed to consider the effect of its decisions on the members of the party.
