ANTI-WAR BANNERS

Tour By Lord Halifax

(Rec. 11.50 p.m.) CHICAGO, May 8. Lord Halifax, embarking on a sevenday test of “public sentiment” to the mid-west, encountered placards reading: “Send Halifax to Halifax” outside his hotel. Lines of women representing anti-war organisations paraded at the hotel entrance. One banner read: “Remember Dunkirk. Beware of a double cross.” Another banner said: "Drive the British from Washington.” Police kept the pickets moving, but did not interfere with their activity.
