Orbell and H. B. L. Johnstone it was agreed that the Ground and Show Committee should confer at the showgrounds and report to the next meeting. Motor Camp Improvements On the recommendation of the Ground Committee it was decided that the caretaker should have the sole right to conduct a shop on the showgrounds for the convenience of the campers, and that he be given the right to stop any other sellers of goods coming on to the grounds. Various improvements to the camping facilities were agreed to, and it was decided that tenders be invited for the purchase and the removal of 11 trees at the back of the motor camp kitchen, and that they be replaced by a row of pinus insignis trees to be planted on the motor paddock side of the kitchen. Mr Orbell recalled that the Romney Association had carried out this proposal throughout the Dominion during one year and it had been very satisfactory. A charge of sixpence for each ram inspected had been maZ. Mr A. Ward, who said that he had some doubt if the proposal were practical as it would be a big job to inspect all breeds of rams on the farms, seconded the motion. Rams which were not submitted to auction at the ram fairs, he said, were not inspected and were sold elsewhere. Mr G. G. Rich said that the present system had been in existence for a number of years. There was. a war

on, and it would be wiser to lea- the matter till after the war. Dr. P. R. Woodhouse said that the matter was covered by the Stock Act. Some seven or eight years ago legislation had been passed. It had at first been intended that inspection should be compulsory, but the compulsory clauses had subsequently been held over. He suggested that the secretary should secure details of the legislation. It was decided by the committee to take no action in tire meantime.
