BLUECLIFFS The April meeting of the Bluecliffs Women’s Institute was presided over by Miss Cairns. Mrs Collier’s report of the Waimate Federation meeting was received, and Miss McAlwee read a letter from the link in England. A report on the annual meeting of the St. Andrews sub-centre of the Red Cross was given by Mrs Vincent, and an appeal was made to members for supplies for the Bluecliffs emergency hospital. Refooting of stockings was ably demonstrated by Mrs R. C. Russell, of St. Andrews, and Miss Cairns told of a visit to the Maoris in the Urewera Country. Letters describing conditions in England during air raids were read by Mrs Cocks. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Bowman, Mrs Johnston and Miss Johnston.
