Arrangements With U.S.

(Rec. 8.50 pm.) RUGBY, May 7. The parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Shipping (Sir Arthur Salter) answering questions in the House of Commons, said: “Representatives of the National Union of Seamen and Shipping Federation recently visited the United States and, in cooperation with others concerned, were successful in improving the arrangements for seamen’s welfare where it already existed and in setting up satisfactory arrangements where it did not already exist The cost is being met by the generosity of United States citizens to whom we are most grateful. Canadian ports also were visited and certain recommendations made on which we are in communication with the British Government in Canada.”
