PLEASANT POINT SALE
NO CHANGE IN VALUES The yardings in the various sections at the Pleasant Point sale were smaller than has been the case for some time. Only about 25 head of fat cattle were forward, the quality of most of them not being up to the usual standard. Little change was noted in the market. About a race and a half of fat sheep, the bulk of which were shorn, were offered to butchers who paid prices on a par with those ruling at Temuka last week. The store cattle sale showed an improvement of about £1 a head. Prices were:— Fat cattle —Cows, best, £8 to £ll/7/6; others £6 to £7/17/6; heifers £6 to £B/15/-; steers £lO to £l2/2/6. Store cattle—Bulls £4 to £6/15/-; empty cows £4/5/- to £7; 18-month steers and heifers £4 to £5/2/6; yearling steers and heifers to £2/17/6. Pigs—Best weaners to 30/-, medium 24/- to 27/-. small to 20/-, stores to 36/-. Fat sheep—Wethers, shorn, best 33/to 36/10, medium 29/- to 32/4. light 27/- to 28/10; shorn ewes, best, 25/- to 28/4, medium 21/- to 24/4, light 15/to 19/10. Store sheep—Ewes and lambs 14/- to 16/-. wethers 16/1 to 20/1, ewe hoggets to 35/6.
