November 21 Troops at the Ingleburn camp of the Second A.I.F. last night wrecked and burned one canteen and stoned another. About two hundred men took part in the demonstrations as a protest against the canteen prices. The police in the Liverpool district were called to quell the disturbance, but before they arrived tie canteen had been burnt out and the troops dispersed by heavy rain. The canteens had been declared “black” since Saturday. The troops, it is stated, were also exasperated by the fact that they had been refused wet canteens.
